3G Teak was initiated by three generations of three girls - Carol, Kim and Tamara. The name was selected to brand an ideology.  3G Teak stands for: three girls, three generations, three goals. The three girls are the original business exploratory team of Kim, her mother Carol and her daughter, Tamara who was just 5 days old when the feasibility trip was carried out.  The three goals are:

  1. To provide a business opportunity for Kim to extend and utilize her business skills and provide an income for her to support her young family;

  2. To provide an opportunity to engage in travel to interesting locations and enjoy developing handmade products; and

  3. To develop a successful business venture that enhanced the economic and sustainable development of the Waitomo district.

3G Teak prides itself in offering 100% handcrafted furniture and giftware. The company is continually discovering new outlets to harness creative ideas. Combining unusual materials, 3G Teak works one-on-one with suppliers to transform sustainable raw materials and mould it so that what is produced meets market requirements in terms of design, quality and environmental ethics. Many of these designs are exclusive to our store.  Our range changes every few months providing an ever-changing mix of new product.

3G Teak works hard at developing ongoing relationships with it’s suppliers, providing encouragement, guidance and finance for growing sustainable businesses. 3G Teak currently works with 46 home-based and family run businesses and has made a considerable difference to the lives of these families. Each piece of furniture and giftware is handcrafted, in many cases, without the aid of power tools. This adds to the uniqueness and character of our range - no two pieces are ever exactly the same.

Most of our furniture products are made from Indonesian Teak - a quality hardwood with durability which far surpasses that of pine and other locally grown timbers. All timbers are sourced from sustainable Government plantations.

A range of furniture is kept in stock both in light and dark stains. In addition, we are also able to source furniture to specific requirements, bringing a unique opportunity to match furniture with existing home decor styles.
